The Tow Tank

TowTankIn Naval Architecture many designs look good on paper but fail miserably when they first hit the water… in the Tow Tank.  On this page 1/2400 scale ships are put to the test. How well do they replicate reality?  How clean are the lines?  How crisp are the details?  I will review miniatures here so you can make an informed decision.  I am not an expert in either Naval Architecture or miniature manufacture.  The only expertise I do claim is that I am a collector who has been at it for over 25yrs.  My collection of more than 700 ships representing most major navies since 1939 gives me a pretty good idea of what works on the table top.

All the miniatures you see here are production examples bought by me or supplied by a third party.  I receive no compensation from any of the manufacturers.  Manufacturer pricing and contact information is provided as a courtesy and does not represent an endorsement.  Believe me, if I endorse a product or pan it, you’ll know.  As a gamer and collector I want to know that I’m getting the best value for my money.  With the information here you’ll be able to make an informed decision.

The information will be arranged by nationality, class type and then by manufacturer.  This is not a comprehensive list, some ships which I will review are made by several manufacturers – I will only discuss the ones I have purchased or that have been loaned to me.  And please be patient, the list will expand over time.  As always, if there are any questions drop me a line.

  1. I like this a lot, did it come to fruition? I can’t find any interface, is there an index or table of contents? Or maybe it isn’t mobile friendly?

    • I’m trying to migrate some of the ships I’ve already done from my old Yahoo group of the same name. I can’t quite seem to figure out how to make the parent /child posts thing work right. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted soon.
